BHC staff and students extended a wonderful warm welcome to Bishop Larry Duffy on Wed 29th March. The Bishop was accompanied by Fr. Stephen Joyce on his visit to our school. Student representatives from our focus group welcomed the Bishop and met with him, engaging in diverse conversations about a variety of topics including social media, the environment, life challenges and opportunities facing teenagers, education, not to mention sport as a lively topic of conversation! The Bishop then enjoyed a tour of the school, visiting students and teachers in their classrooms and observing the varied learning initiatives that were taking place. Many students got the opportunity to speak to the Bishop and showcase their projects, classroom-based assessments and even demonstrate their cookery skills! The tour culminated in a visit to the staffroom for tea and scones and this provided an opportunity for the Bishop to meet with teachers and staff. Finally, the Bishop was presented with a beautiful wood-turned table lamp, made by some of our senior Construction Studies students. We would like to thank Bishop Larry Duffy for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit our school and we look forward to another visit in the very near future.
